Mission Statement
Building a healthy and sustainable future, starting with clean water.
Where We Work
Water 4 Life Global is a 501c3 non-profit based in California and currently working on the ground in Guatemala. Our clean water initiatives include the distribution of water filter technology, collaboration on biological water treatment plans and contributions towards the reforestation of Lake Atitlán.
The greater vision of Water 4 Life Global is nothing less than the availability of clean drinking water that is easily accessible and sustained for many years. Their team envisions a life free of water transmitted diseases, water toxins, malnutrition, and environmental damage, in a country that maintains each of these issues as very viable threats to the communities and ecosystems.
Areas of Focus
Water Filter Technology
We distribute Village Water Filters to 40 different indigenous communities in Guatemala. To plan deliveries, we work with health centers and schools to determine which areas lack support and access to clean potable water.
Natural Sanitation
To create a lasting impact, we support clean waterways by providing natural lemongrass soaps and sanitizers. This helps to prevent the addition of toxic detergents and soaps into the bodies of water that the villages drink out of.
Education
Dropping off a product and walking away is not our style. Proper education about the filter, maintenance, process and purpose is what we focus on. With each delivery, we include an in-depth demonstration and education portion that is spoken in their native dialect.
Reforestation
To reduce the impacts of floods from storms in the highlands, we focus on planting native trees. This will support by blocking or slowing down the flow of runoff, which carries many chemicals, into Lake Atitlán. Our partnership with WELLKIND aims to promote the regeneration of the environment and plants the seeds for the future in Tzununa, Guatemala.
Job Opportunity
We believe in creating the opportunity for Guatemalan locals to take this project into their own hands. Each filter delivery is run by a member of the community as the “Lead Distributor” which we hire and train as a continuous member of the organization. Everything from transportation, education, facilitation and more is lead by a Guatemalan who is given salary pay.
Data Collection
Without data, there is no way to determine the effectiveness of our project. With each filter distribution, we harness the power of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through a survey platform to gather information before and after the recipient uses the filter. This data is analyzed to provide actionable intelligence and allows us to discover which areas need more support.

- See below for short descriptions on Hope Springs, The Water Princess, and You Wouldn’t Want to Live Without Clean Water!

A drought has settled in the area around the orphanage where Boniface lives. There are long line-ups at the tiny spring where all the local people get their water, and suddenly the orphans are pushed to the back of the line, unwelcome. Boniface’s houseparent, Henry, tells him that the people were mean out of fear–they feared there would not be enough water for their families. When the building of the orphanage’s well is completed, Boniface has an idea to help the villagers. A lovely story of kindness and heart, this story shows that, through compassion and understanding, true generosity can spring from unexpected places.
A young girl dreams of bringing clean drinking water to her African village. With its wide sky and warm earth, Princess Gie Gie’s kingdom is a beautiful land. But clean drinking water is scarce in her small African village. And try as she might, Gie Gie cannot bring the water closer; she cannot make it run clearer. Every morning, she rises before the sun to make the long journey to the well. Instead of a crown, she wears a heavy pot on her head to collect the water. After the voyage home, after boiling the water to drink and clean with, Gie Gie thinks of the trip that tomorrow will bring. And she dreams. She dreams of a day when her village will have cool, crystal-clear water of its own.
